BEAUFORT COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyFEBRUARY 3, 2024 Happy Saturday! Heads up — SCAM ALERT 🚨 Please know that we will NEVER call you and say: 🚨You have a warrant for your arrest and you must pay a fine 🚨You missed jury duty and you must pay a fine 🚨You must give us all of your personal information, including your social security number, etc. These are just a few of the types of scam calls that have been reported to us. This weekend alone, there have been more than a handful of calls reporting someone called, claiming to be from our agency or another department, and a fine needed to be paid. In January, there were more than 100 calls for service regarding fraud/scams. And that’s just the number of people who reported them. Some good news, you’re catching on and recognizing scam calls. Several of the people who called this weekend to report the scam said they refused to give any information to the caller because they knew it wasn’t a legitimate phone call. If you ever get a phone call from someone claiming to be an officer with us or any other agency, feel free to call the agency to confirm if it’s real or a scam. As always, you can call to report scams to us by calling our non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.34Like9

STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA2+ weeks agoAgencySummer is approaching, but scammers don't take a vacation. The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs offers this advice to protect your wallet: • Remain vigilant. If you are traveling, be sure to closely review your financial statements in the weeks and months following your trip. If you see errors or fraudulent charges, dispute them as soon as possible. • Leave unnecessary payment methods at home. Don’t travel with all your credit cards, checks, etc. • Know who to call. If your card suddenly stops working or gets lost, you’ll need to contact your bank to fix the problem. • Set up account alerts so that you get text messages or emails alerting you to activity that posts to your account. This will allow you to closely monitor your account for unexpected charges. BEAUFORT COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyJANUARY 27, 2024 We’re asking for your help identifying the suspects in this doorbell camera video. We know you cannot see their faces; however, we hope you can identify them by their clothing and/or mannerisms. This morning, shortly before 4 a.m., the suspects can be seen walking through the yard at a home on Wright Place on Hilton Head Island. The suspects then begin rummaging through the cars in the yard. That’s when the owner of the home heard noises outside, went to see what was going on, and found the two suspects near his cars in the driveway. At that point, the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the man before running away. The victim, a 55-year-old man, was taken to a Savannah area hospital where he remains. His status is unknown at this time. We’re also asking anyone who lives in this area on the north end of Hilton Head Island to review their video systems for any footage that may have captured suspicious activity leading up to and after the shooting. If you recognize the suspects in this video, have video footage that may be helpful in this investigation, or any other information as it relates, please call Sergeant Calore at 843-255-3411.67Like89
