How many questions does it take to get 100 on IXL? ›

Students will need to answer as many as 10 questions correctly in a row to achieve mastery. For most skills on IXL, students will have to complete a minimum of 28 questions to earn a SmartScore of 100.

Using the Skill Analysis report

This report is broken down into two distinct sections: skill overview and class breakdown. In the skill overview section, you'll find a snapshot of the skill you've chosen. This snapshot includes the current status of every student and whole-class usage (questions answered, time spent).

As the student answers questions correctly, the SmartScore increases. If a question is answered incorrectly, the score decreases.

Both IXL and i-Ready bring unique strengths to the table. The best choice depends on your child's individual needs and learning style. For the game-loving, self-motivated child: IXL might be the perfect fit. For the child who needs more targeted practice: i-Ready could be their champion.

If a student's number is 550, it indicates the student is halfway through the grade-five level. A 750 indicates the student is halfway through the grade-seven level.

For example, a score of 650 indicates that the student has acquired about 50% of 6th-grade material, whereas a score of 700 indicates that the student is ready to learn 7th-grade material.

IXL recommends that students initially aim to diagnose until they reveal complete diagnostic data. This should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour per subject and can be done over multiple sessions. After getting their initial levels, students should answer about 10 to 15 questions per week in the Real-Time Diagnostic.

However, there are some key differences between the two platforms that may make one a better fit for you than the other. IXL is online video-based and Kumon is in center tutoring.

Consider your learning style: If your child is a visual learner, then you may prefer Khan Academy's videos and articles. Cons of Using IXL.com

One of the primary criticisms of IXL.com is that it doesn't provide instructional content or lessons. The platform focuses on practice questions, which, while effective, might not be sufficient if your child needs more in-depth instruction or has missed a crucial concept in class.

Because every student with dyslexia has different strengths and areas for improvement, the learning solutions they use to boost their reading skills should be just as adaptive. With IXL, students will find the personalized tools, skills, and accommodations they need to boost their reading skills!

As always, a diagnostic level indicates a student's working grade level—for example, a level of 800 indicates readiness to work on eighth grade level skills.

Using the Diagnostic Overview

*Note: Diagnostic levels correspond to grade levels. For example, a score of 850 indicates the student understands about 50 percent of 8th grade material.

These levels range from 0-1300, with 0-50 representing pre-K, 50-100 kindergarten, and 1300 representing the end of 12th grade. When students have completed their diagnostic, they can also check their own levels by visiting the Assessment tab. Page 5.
