Community Board Update By Myles McDougall President Lake Bonavista Community AssociationThe lazy days of summer are nearing their end. Summer vacations are over. The kids are back to school and theirextracurricular activities. For many people, September heralds the beginning of the “busy season”. So it is for theLBCA Board, which will return from its summer hiatus ready to engage with a long list of agenda items.LBCA Board has the ongoing responsibility to operate and maintain Lake Bonavista’s Recreation Centre whileproviding a number of recreational and community programs. The LBCA’s Annual General Meeting will be held onOctober 10th. In addition to the election of the new Board, some specific issues that we can expect to be on thediscussed at the AGM include whether the LBCA should:• Add a new outdoor ice rink• Propose the assumption of operational responsibility for the adjacent Frank McCool arena• Lobby the city to install proper bike path facilities through the community.• Proceed on a new community garden.Crime has become an ever increasing community concern. What are the actual trends and statistics? What can or shouldwe do about this?I hope you can attend the AGM. If you wish to get involved, letme know. We can always use more volunteers. Here’s to a great year ahead.Cheers,www.lakebonavistacommunity.com
